Our System Center Memo

SCCM Prerequisites

Before installing SCCM, there are some configurations to set and prerequisites to install first. I’ll walk you through with screenshots below. When you’re done, continue with the following links, but only pick 1 SQL version to install, choice is yours.

Installing SQL 2005 Standard, Installing SQL 2008 R2, Install SCCM.

A. Extending the Active Directory schema.

Go to the Active Directory Server for SCCM, insert the SCCM Setup Disk and browse to extadsch.exe and execute it. Alternatively just follow the steps below.

B. Configuring Roles for SCCM Server.

1. Click Next.

2. Select Web Server (IIS), click Next.

3. Click Next.

4. From the defaults, check ASP.NET, ASP, Windows Authentication, Static Content Compression, IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility, IIS WMI Compatibility. If unsure just do a comparison with the screenshots below and make sure everything that is checked in the screenshot is checked on your environment. Click Next.

5. Click Install.

6. Wait for installation to complete.

7. Click Close.

C. Configuring Features for SCCM Server.

1. Check Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) and Remote Differential Compression.

If prompted, click Add Required Role Services.

2. Click Next.

image

 

3. Click Next.

image

 

4. Click Install.

image

 

5. Wait for installation to complete.

6. Click Close.

D. Installation WSUS 3.0.

1. Click Next.

2. Select Full server installation including Administration Console. Click Next.

3. Check I accept the terms of the License agreement, click Next.

4. Click Next.

5. Click Next.

6. Click Next.

7. Select Create a Windows Server Update Service 3.0 SP2 Web site. Click Next.

8. Click Next.

image

 

9. Click Finish.

10. When the Windows Server Update Services Configuration Wizard pops up, click Cancel, since we want SCCM to manage WSUS

E. Configuring WebDAV.

1. Go to Server Manager, under Roles, Web Server (IIS), Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

2. Then go to your SCCM Site under Connections, expand it, then go to Sites,  then Default Web Site (Multiple Protocols), you’ll find WebDAV Authoring Rules. Double click it.

3. On the Actions panel at the right hand side, click on Enable WebDAV, then click Add Authoring Rule.

4. Select All Content, All users and Read as per the screenshot below. Click Ok.
